History of Domaine de Vaujoly

Bergerie de Vaujoly - Domaine de Vaujoly
1504-1700

This stately farm dates back to the 16th century, belonged to a family of local dignitaries and played a central role in the surrounding rural economy. It had a sheepfold and numerous fields for agriculture.

Initially, the sheepfold served as a center for breeding and agricultural production. She took advantage of the region's fertile land to raise sheep and grow cereals. It also had a beautiful horse stable.

During the industrial era, sheepfold underwent transformations to meet new agricultural requirements. The buildings were expanded and modernized to improve productivity. A large worm crane is still enthroned in the Grange des Près.

The estate changed hands several times, sometimes passing to bourgeois families or local farmers. In the 1980s, restoration projects were launched to preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of the Sheepfold. The mansion is renovated. These efforts aim to maintain its historic character while improving its residential comfort.

2021

Taken over by the Domaines & Events group, the founder Nicolas Tommasini, with a wealth of successful experience in real estate and hotel development, decided on a mixed private/professional event positioning and to renovate the entire estate to have new rooms, gardens, rooms and parking. This new orientation aims to perpetuate the heritage of the Estate while integrating it into a modern and sustainable economic model.

Renovation of the estate - Domaine de Vaujoly
2022—23

The Estate is growing with the construction of a swimming pool, a terrace and a bar, replacing the old tennis court. La Grange des Près has been completely renovated to become a majestic reception room. The Bergerie was rebuilt into a multi-purpose room and now has a floor divided into dormitory, new rooms, and bathrooms. A space of comfortable tent lodges is designed.

The mansion, which 'crowns' the estate, is now available to the public with kitchen, living and dining room and bedrooms upstairs. The barns located opposite the entrance to the estate were bought for storage and future projects. A house was bought on Rue Carnot in Courville, near the train station, for independent rental or linked to the estate. The adventure continues!

To go further

The Domaine de Vaujoly, located in Eure-et-Loir in Courville-sur-Eure, has a rich history that dates back more than 500 years.
Formerly known as “Le Veau Joli”, a tribute to its initial role as a center of breeding and agricultural production. This stately farm belonged to a family of local dignitaries and was a pillar of the surrounding rural economy. With its sheepfold and vast cultivated fields, it took advantage of the region's rich land to raise sheep and grow cereals.

Over the centuries, the estate has evolved to meet the requirements of its time. During the industrial era, the sheepfold was expanded and modernized, testifying to a desire for agricultural optimization. These developments made it possible to increase productivity and maintain its economic importance in the region. Renamed “La Bergerie de Vaujoly”, it changed hands several times, passing from stately families to bourgeois owners or local farmers.

The decisive turning point for the field came in 2005. The Grange des Douves, the Wing des Douves and a small cottage are undergoing a complete restoration in order to make it functional for new uses, in particular weddings and stays. The Bargin family, residing in the main house of the estate that they kept as a private home, opens the premises for exclusive events. In addition to indoor spaces, the estate offers extensive outdoor spaces, including a tennis court and landscaped gardens.

Today, the Bergerie de Vaujoly was bought by the Domaines & Events group in 2021, and which is bringing this historic place back to life through ambitious event projects, by renaming “Le Domaine de Vaujoly” and undertaking major renovation work, to host weddings, private events, seminars, and exceptional corporate events. This new orientation makes it possible to perpetuate the Domaine's heritage while integrating it into a modern and sustainable economic model.
